There have been more than 100 news stories about PSYCA since its inception, in such forums as The Guardian, The New York Times Climate Forward, and SXSW.

About the Role

We’re looking for a values-aligned, proactive, and detail-oriented team member to support the growth of The Mycelium Thought Leadership Accelerator, PSYCA’s new program for visionary leaders in climate, consciousness, and health.

You’ll work closely with the PSYCA Founder and accelerator participants, gaining exposure to the thought leadership process and receiving guidance as you help execute the program. The ideal candidate is organized, tech-comfortable, and passionate about communications, storytelling, and impact. This role directly supports PSYCA’s nonprofit mission to educate and elevate leaders advancing public good in climate, mental health, and consciousness.

Key Responsibilities

Communications Support

  • Learn alongside accelerator participants and receive mentorship in:

    • Pitching to media, podcasts, and conferences

    • Ethical, efficient use of AI for communications and PR

  • Support the creation and polishing of written content, including recap emails, social posts, and newsletters

  • Upload session recordings and resources to the member platform

Participant Support

  • Respond to participant questions via email or WhatsApp

  • Track onboarding, engagement, and progress

  • Help manage scheduling, reminders, and follow-ups

Logistics & Event Coordination

  • Assist with Zoom session setup, calendar invites, and event descriptions

  • Take live session notes and ensure recordings are captured

  • Support slide and document prep for workshops

Research & Relationship Management

  • Conduct media research to identify aligned journalists, podcasts, and outlets

  • Help build and maintain our media network

  • Assist with outreach and relationship cultivation for accelerator participants

Who You Are

  • Strong communicator with excellent writing and editing skills

  • Organized, detail-oriented, and presentation-savvy

  • Tech-comfortable (Google Workspace, Zoom, Squarespace, Canva—or willing to learn and become a pro)

  • Background in marketing, communications, branding, or PR

  • Passionate about climate, consciousness, health, or psychedelics

  • Self-starter who takes initiative and thrives in a mission-driven environment

  • Event coordination experience

  • Familiarity with the thought leadership space

  • Located within 1-2 hours of NYC and open to supporting local live events occasionally

Time & Compensation

  • Time Commitment: 6–12 hours/week to start, with potential to grow

  • Rate: $30–$40/hr based on experience

  • Structure: This is a freelance contractor role (1099), with flexibility and the potential to evolve based on alignment, performance, and organizational capacity. As an independent contractor, you will be responsible for your own taxes and schedule.

PSYCA is an equal opportunity organization and values diversity in all forms. All qualified applicants will receive consideration without regard to race, gender, age, religion, ability, or background.

If the person in this role excels, there will be potential to grow into a full-time role as our organization and programs evolve.
